Renewals
Be sure to check your renewal notices carefully. If there is a vehicle you no longer have, make sure you are only mailing in a check for what you have. If you renew online, make sure to check all vehicles that show up and only check off what you wish to renew. RSA 261:151 states No portion of any permit fee once paid shall be repaid to any person unless the state refuses to register the vehicle.
- You need to bring in your previous registration (a copy of your registration is also acceptable) or the renewal notice that was sent to you in the mail.
- Any vehicle with a GVW over 26000 lbs, you must come to the Town Clerk's Office, pay your town fees first, and then you will be directed to complete the registration at an MV Substation.
- Cash, Checks, and CC are accepted. Please be aware that there is an additional 2.99% fee assessed when you use your credit card or debit card.
- If you are paying by check, the Check is written to the Town of Pelham.
New Vehicles
- New or Used Vehicles bought from out-of-state dealers: If it is a new vehicle, you will need the Certificate of Origin; if it is a used vehicle and the Vehicle year is 2000 or newer, you will need the title.
- New or Used Vehicle bought from New Hampshire dealers: You will need to bring in your blue copy of the Title Application to us.
- Vehicle years 1999 and older: You will need a bill of sale, the previous owner's New Hampshire Registration, or title assigned over to you, or a Verification of Vehicle Identification filled out (these can be obtained from our office).
- Transfer Plates/Registrations: You will need to bring your current original registration from your vehicle that you are transferring from, along with the appropriate paperwork from the new vehicle. Transfers cannot be completed without the original previous registration. The transfer must be going from the "same name to the same name" (The first name of the registration is the same name that should be on the new paperwork). Only when a vehicle is leased can it be different. Please call the office at 603-635-2040 for details, as it can be very confusing. Please remember to keep the plates and registration of your vehicle after the sale or trade-in of it. If you have misplaced the registration, you can request a certified duplicate registration for a fee of $23.00
